OMG! I hate when I forget.....

Hello this fine Thursday!

I had company for the long weekend so I got thrown completely off :-) A couple of weeks ago, I won some wonderful candy at the "Love is in the Air" blog hop hosted by Lyssa at So Many Crafts. She offered a choice of an 'announcement' blinky or a digital scrap page. I chose to get the scrap page and this is the absolutely beautiful 12x12 layout that she sent me!!

I had her showcase my recently rescued purr babies! They are all girls so I told her to go toward pink and browns .... is it not just gorgeous?! I am oh so happy with it :-)

Yesterday, I had some time to work on my scrapbooks and that was fun :-) My time is not my own with a retired hubby and, today, I babysit two of the grandkids. ALWAYS SOMETHIN'!!

I got an award!!!

Hello My Friends!
Hope you are having a wonderful day after President's Day! Sorry for those who had it off and are back at work :-( I had company for the long weekend so I had to sneak in looks online and last night I saw that I had been given the "Liebster Award" by Susan from http://cricutandgrasshopper.blogspot.com/

"Liebster" is German for "Dearest". The award is a "Share the love arrangement", given to inspirational bloggers with less that 200 followers.

I feel so honored to be recognized by Susan :-) I love getting this award because my husband is German and I have a strong German background, so it is kinda fun!

Here's the to do list for any of the Liebster Blog Award recipients.

1. Thank your Liebster Blog Award presenter on your blog.
2. Link back to the blogger who presented you the award .
3. Copy and paste the award on your blog.
4. Present the Liebster Blog Award to 5 bloggers with less than 200 followers.
5. Let them know they have been chosen by leaving a comment on their blog.

When I am doing a hop, or anything else in Bloggieland, I always sign up to follow those who are just starting to build their followers! I like to support them because I know how hard it is! So I am off the those I follow the find the 5 with the lowest amount of followers! I have started following several new Bloggers recently, so I will search them out :-)

Here are the five I have chosen from my list of blogs I follow:
Susan at http://makelifeacreation.blogspot.com/
Crystal at Creations by Crystal
Becci Ray at Becci Ray
Laurie at What Can I Do Today?
ElamDesign33 at Ramblings of an Impatient Artist

All these wonderful ladies have blogs that you would love if you can give them a visit and follow them! Soon they will not qualify for this "less than 200" award and how great would that be?! And don't forget to go follow my benefactor, Susan, too!! I have to give her a great big THANKS one more time for spreading the love :-)

Very quick Valentine's post...

Hello Monday Readers!

It is the day before Valentine's Day and I need to get my Hubby's wonderful Valentine posted!! I used the "Yours Truly" file from SVGAttic.com to make my first explosion box card. By the way, they are sponsoring the Light up My Life Blog Hop today!

So here it is :-) I used his favorite color - no pinks for him!

He has grown several rose gardens in the past. We can't have one here because of too much shade, so he put one in for his older sister! Therefore, I felt the paper roses were great for him :-) These roses are actually fun and fairly easy to make - there is a tute to follow. I even stamped them on the four sides. It is a old rubber stamp I probably got at Michael's. On the inside, I used the shapes that come with the file and stamped Valentine wishes on each one on the first layer. The second layer spells out LOVE. I am not going to go into any more details :-) This is our 44th Valentine's together - 2 years dating and 42 years married! I will have to say we are still best friends :-)

Hope you love the card as much as I do! I am so sporatic on posting because we are deep into bathroom remodeling and I am David's gofer, so that keeps me away from the computer. And now I have company coming for the long weekend :-) I am going to do better in the future :-) A little organization in my life would help!!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY to all if I don't post tomorrow!!

Doodle Pantry Challenge #20

Hello and Happy Day Before the Weekend!

Every day I mean to do a post and I don't get it done for one reason or another. Usually it is because I don't have my pictures ready to put up. I am going to make an honest effort to get all my pictures on my computer ready to go and find a time to make up the posts so I can add them in the morning when I think most people are looking. Yesterday, I made a card to enter into the Doodle Pantry Challenge and I did not get it ready to post until this afternoon .... see what I mean :-) A click on their name should take you directly to their site to get all the info.

Now, here is the card I made with one of their digi stamps that I have had for a while. On the inside, I stamped "We are best friends! Sending you love on your birthday!" I used 2 sets of My Thoughts Exactly stamps

and combined the available words to make up the sentiment! The sentiment on the front is part of the birdie digi stamp. Obviously, this will go to my BFF on her birthday :-) This is a fairly simple card and should have not taken long to make, but I am a total novice with coloring the digi stamps and I had to do 4 before I got one I liked :-) This one was the best. I used the few alcohol ink paint pens that I have (which is very few) Maybe two of them are Coptics and some others are Marvy LePlume. I have done a lot of canvas painting in the past so this should be easy for me, but it's not!

I used a base card from a Recollections Card and Envelop set. I layered the digi on two papers from a pack I have had forever and don't remember the maker ... I printed the outside sentiment, "I'm so happy!" on the same paper and added a tiny bird and butterfly stickers. I used the lime green twine that I believe I won and a neat double button that I had in my stash. Before I started my blog, I never kept track of the makers of any of my supplies so my stash is mostly "unnamed" ... sorry 'bout that :-)

Hope the weekend holds lots of fun things for everyone!! We are supposed to get some cooler weather so I guess I will put the shorts and tees away for about 2 days until it is hot again! We were completely cheated out of winter this year :-( Oh well....have a great weekend!!

2nd day of Valentines....

Good morning!
We are supposed to get a few drops of rain today ... it will not be enough, I can promise you that! We are totally missing out on Winter this year :-( Being in Florida, we look forward to the couple of months of cooler weather so we can actually work outside without experiencing heat stroke! Okay! Enough of the complaining --- I know we don't have SNOW!

Today's Valentines are for the Grand Kids! I used files from SVG Cuts. They were intended to be flat with the to/from on the back, so I used the weld feature on SCAL to make fold cards. I copied the bottom piece, flipped it, and did the weld. The files include the envelope.

Like all 10 year old girls, my two grand daughters are all into Peace signs so that is the one I chose for them. I "individualized" them for each girl. They are cousins that are 9 weeks apart. One is lime green and zebra and the other is turquoise.

For the just turned 6 grand son, I chose a football. His current sport is tag football and he loves it.

The 17 year old grand son is an All State tuba player. He also plays guitar and bass. So I, of course, chose the music clef. He is a wonderful teenager and will appreciate the card more than most :-) This year he has grown to over 6 ft tall!

It is hard to see, but I stamped "Peace" on the girls and "You Rock" on the music note.

Tomorrow, I will finish up with Hubs and kids. Thanks so much for visiting!! I love comments and I would so love for you to be a follower :-)

OH! I almost forgot! I wanted to include a picture of Spooky!!

Valentine's Day is so soon......

Good Wednesday, My Bloggy Friends!
At Christmas, life got in the way and I did not send a single handmade card. Soooo .... I have been busy and I have made all my Valentines and they are ready to go!! I am quite pleased with myself :-)I tried a couple of new techniques with great results and that was fun! I won't put them all on here today ... I will divide them up!

Mary from Cardztv did a video with a 7 fold card and I just loved it, so that was one that I just had to try. With Mary's excellent instructions, it was very easy to put together and I really liked the results :-) I used the Valentine Turtle from Little Scraps of Heaven on the front panel with layered hearts as the anchor. I stamped the heart center with a heart from an older set, the inside is stamped with the sentiment from another set and designs on the inside flaps. I do not remember the maker of the heart or sentiment stamps, but the "floral" designs are Inkadinkado. All the paper is stuff I have on hand. I know we all have enough paper to last a life time!!

For this card, I used a cute little frog girl paper piecing from "Happy Valentine's Day" by Scrapping Bug Designs. I used the standing frog girl and the paper pieced sentiment on the inside. All the paper from my stash, some Stickles, and a little wired ribbon bow.

Both of these Valentines are using paper piecings from Little Scraps of Heaven ... Love Hot Air Balloon and Valentine Cupcake. Instead of putting the word LOVE on the basket, I stamped "Love Always" on the heart balloon. I used some colored hemp twine and sticker flowers to further decorate. The more simple cupcake card has a punched border with ribbon trim. The Happy Valentine's Day! stamp is from a small Studio G set I probably got at Michael's.

Tomorrow I will post some more! I made my Hubby an explosion box card ... another newbie for me ... that turned out sooo cute! I am also going to try to get a picture of my outside fur baby that has decided she wants to stay with us. And ... GREAT!! ... she is an expecting mommy. I have a home for one, maybe two, so I hope that is all she has:-) Those of you that know the story from the start back in September, she is quite possibly the sister of our baby Boo Kitty ... or maybe his mommy. I almost have her trust enough to get her into the carrier for the trip to the vet where I can find out more. Ta ta til then!!

Card Exchange and my Giveaway...

PLEASE CHECK THE PREVIOUS POST FOR MY CURRENT GIVEAWAY

Good Monday morning and have a great day to those of you that are so lucky to have this day off!

I am participating in a monthly card exchange organized by Shirl at Creations by Shirl. She matches us up and we send a card and some "goody" just for the fun of it -- no contest or judging -- only the fun of sending and receiving a card :-) The first month was December with a theme of green and red. The picture that I took disappeared so I can't share. This month was to make a card that is "happy" and will make someone smile :-) I decided to use a digi stamp of a goofy, Boxer-like dog to make a New Year's card. Before I started a blog, I never kept track of where I bought my digis so I am not sure who made this one -- I am so sorry, I like to give appropriate credit :-( But, anyway, I thought he definitely makes you smile!!

I used a K & Co. paper pack of double sided paper because I thought the printed inside was fun. I colored the digi with color pencils -- I do not have any luck with pens -- I def need a course in using them! There is ribbon from my stash, some Stickles and pop dots for dimension. The clip is to decorate, but also can be taken off as part of the goody bag I included. This time I included several pieces of ribbon and fiber, various buttons, and a rhinestone star medallion. The sentiment inside was stamped from several different stamp sets -- Inkadinkado, Heidi Grace, and the words were from a set by Allysa at MyThoughtsExactly. I am learning to use stamps, too.

Hope the rest of your day is productive :-) I would love for you to visit the previous post to comment for a chance in the giveaway!

I am back and did not forget my giveaway!

Hello my Friends!
Oh my ... getting back to my blog is like starting all over again! It has been so long. Things just got so hectic that I could not find time to think and I put blogging on the back burner. First, I want to give a quick update about our life down here. DH, David, had his Prostate cancer surgery on Nov 28 and it went well. It was done by robot and he had 6 punctures. He had probably 3 weeks of discomfort and limited movement, but then began improving daily and is now pretty much back to normal!! We have started a bathroom redo and I have resumed my job as gofer and hander while he does all the work:-) We went with the surgery because radiation is not guaranteed to cure it and surgery gets it all! Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers -- they help so much:-)

Next. You met sweet kitty, Ashley, when we rescued her the end of Oct. By the first week of Dec, she decided to stop living under the bed and join us, but she still was pretty stand offish. Well, she still has her own rules about getting picked up! She definitely is a "Daddy's Girl" and I have to admit that I wanted one for me, too:-) After a whole lot of thought, I told David that I wanted to get another kitten for my Christmas present. He was okay with it so we went back to the shelter on Dec 23. I have a lot of trouble seeing all the cute kitties, especially at the 'pound' where they might not make it:-( I asked to see the kittens and, as they do, I was directed to the 4 month and older rooms. I wanted to give them a chance so I was fine. We had our 10 year old grand daughter with us so we could be sure the kitty would like kids, too. We all held several kitties and soon could tell the "loving" ones. Diane, the lady in charge, had just brought 3 of them in from foster care at her house and really wanted us to take a little guy named Rueben, but he was wilder than a March Hare!! Our Ashley has an 'old soul' and is pretty sedate so I needed to get a good match for her. Kendyl hooked up with a real sweetheart, but she was a long hair and we have some allergies to consider. David was looking around at all of them and spotted a little black girl kind of hiding in a corner. She was one of Diane's fosters and was having a little trouble adapting to a room full of cats. Diane handed her to me and I seemed to know right then that she would be mine. She was 7 months old, but looked like a much younger kitten -- maybe about 4 or 5 pounds -- extremely loving and a purrer for sure. They had named her Arianna. I had gone for a 12-13 week old kitten, but, honestly I feel better about taking the older cats that have a harder time being adopted. They got her all ready and off we went to introduce her to Ashley. I did not want to keep her name so we started brain storming right away. I said she should be Mary Kate -- get it? Mary Kate and Ashley? -- but too long and complicated:-) I started throwing out variations -- Katie, MK, KK .... KoKo -- KoKo was it!! It seemed to suit her. Back at home, we left her in the crate for just a little while to let Ashley 'meet' her and they seemed fine so I let her go. Boy, was it different from bringing Ashley home! No hiding in a impossible spot for 12 hours for KoKo! No, she came out on a vengaklllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllcxnce to OOOOPPPSSY!! I left the computer for a minute and KoKo wrote her version for you:-) Anyhoo, she wanted to see every spot of her new home and seemed to be the happiest kitty ever! Ashley followed her every step and they had "words" for a couple of days, but never any 'fisticuffs'. After a week, they are like litter mates and love each other completely:-) Any of you who know cats, know how hard they play and how funny they can be. We have all decided that we were lied to about Ashley's age because she acts way more like a 7 year old than a 9 month old:-) No, she is becoming more playful every day, but she is so very reserved and regal, very much like her breed is described. Well, they have taken the names of Princess Ashley and Duchess KoKo. Ironically, KoKo is more dark brown than black -- her under coat is brown and top is silky black. She is the typical "Alley Cat" -- she will eat most anything and will steal it off your plate if given the chance:-) She loves her Ashley play time, but curls up on your lap when she gets tired:-) They are both very well behaved, never scratch except on their posts and know where they are allowed! I love them both sooo much and they have brought us so much joy in such a short time:-) Most of you know about my very special Boo Kitty and how devastated I was to lose him. Ashley never filled his place, but little KoKo is exactly the kitten I think he would have been. She has helped with the healing. Okay, I know I have been going on way toooo long, but just one more story and I will get to the crafty part of the blog:-) Right after the New Year, Boo Kitty's momma started showing up on our deck. I knew what she looked like, but had not seen her since Sept. I have been feeding her and as soon as I have her trust enough, I will have her trapped to get her spayed. Unfortunately, I think she was just in heat because I have seen a couple of big bull males in the yard. I will let her be an outside cat unless she comes around enough some day to be a part of the family. She is getting closer and closer to me, but no one else, and yesterday I caught her nose to nose with KoKo through the door! The two girls watch her through the window and have no negative reactions. She is black with eyes that seem light icy blue -- little Boo had such bright blue eyes. I am quite happy to care for his momma and I will!!

You can see that Ashley is a lot bigger than KoKo. I have put 2 pounds on her so she is almost 10 pounds and KoKo is about 6 pounds. I think KoKo is always going to be on the small side. I will try to get a pic of Momma Kitty -- I call her that -- David calls her Spooky.

Now on to the giveaway!! We will just say it is a belated Birthday Giveaway to celebrate my birthday way back on Dec 7th (Yep, Pearl Harbor Day). I won't divulge my age because it is way too old:-) Some days I feel it, but usually I think of myself as much younger! A little while back, I found an awesome Scrapbook-card set at Sam's with a lot of useful things in it. I have decided to give this away to one lucky follower:-) I say follower because I doubt anyone but followers will see this! And, truthfully, I like to reward those who support me in such nice ways:-) I tried to get a good picture of the set and contents, but I do not know how to make the photo enlarge when you click on it? If anyone can help with that, please let me know! I think I will leave this open for at least a week before I pick a winner:-)

All I need is for you to leave me a comment and if someone finds their way here that is not a follower, please join us so I can add your name:-) I have stalled on followers and I will be doing a giveaway when I reach 50! If I say 100, we may never get there!! One of these days I will try to take part in a Blog Hop where more people will "meet" me:-) And I also promise to do a post at least every other day -- should that be a New Years resolution?? I surely need to get back on track!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!

I will be m.i.a.......surgery update....

Hi Bloggy Friends....

I will probably be gone for a few more days ... David had his surgery on Monday and was in the hospital for two days. There was wi-fi, but it was so slow that I did not use it:-) His surgery went well, but he has a lot of swelling and bruising. He still has a catheter until next week and that is driving him crazy. I can't say that he is the best patient in the world!

On top of all that, we had told out daughter that we would watch her dogs -- Boston Terriers -- before his surgery was ever scheduled. They came yesterday for 4 days. They only "love" me, so I am covered in dogs 24/7. Poor Ashley pretty much stays in my room under the bed :-( She is definitely curious about them, but gets her hackles up when they get too close. She has been staying close to David to help him heal :-)

I have not had a minute to work on anything, but hopefully he will be better after he sees the doctor next week to the catheter out and an "all clear" to be more active!!

I have a birthday next week and I plan to get another kitten from Animal Services to be a playmate for Ashley!! I can tell by the way she is with the dogs that she will be okay with a kitten :-) I would like to get another Russian Blue if they have one.

Be on watch --- I think I might have a give-away to celebrate my birthday! I will post it next week!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL!!! and some projects......

Happy Thanksgiving Day to all my new Friends!!!

We will be going to our older son's house to celebrate our time with the family :-) Two of the three kids wanted us to have the day here at our house, but with DH's surgery on Monday, he was not up to so much work --- he is the chief cook in our family :-) We had minimum contribution and I actually did most of it!! So we will be part of a group of about 14 adults and 6 kids -- 2 of which are as big as the adults! And with all people bringing somethin, it is sure to be quite a FEAST!!

Three of us are "Border Buddies" -- we make 3 borders for each other every month. There is one other girl who does one a month and we make one for her. I did her 12 early in the year. The 2 others are my DIL and her mom. I got my November borders done this week so I could deliver them today. We never do anything in particular so here is what I got done with files I had already set up in my scal program:

This Birthday Fun border is done with the Clowning Around file from Treasure Box Designs using all papers and Stickles I have on hand. The font is one that I downloaded into scal. Usually, I make the paper pieces and then I pick out the papers I want to use for the background and edge. I lay the pieces on different papers until I like the look :-)

I think this border could be used for lots of pages. Think Sweet Thoughts file is from KaDoodle Bug Designs. All from my stash. It has extra pieces -- the frame girl and caupcake.

I am going to be using this border for a wedding page, since I had 3 weddings this year. Of course, it is perfect for Valentine's or an anniversary. These angels are in a file from Treasure Box Designs that is no longer available, but I believe they have been relocated into other new files. I think the font is another one I uploaded into scal.

Hope I have inspired you in some way:-) I am doing more pages instead of borders, but they are still a quick and easy page when they are sitting there all done! Just add a background page and then back the pictures if you want:-)

Busy, non-productive days....Ashley....

Happy Saturday Fellow Bloggers...

Do yo ever have times when you are so busy doing "nothing" that you don't accomplish anything? It seems like that is the mode I am operating in :-) Since the time change, I have been going to bed at the same time (late), but waking up very early. This puts me in a fog for the rest of the day. I did have several busy weekends and I did get most of my Christmas decorations up, but I have not been in the scrap cave more than a couple of times :-(

I got a few Thanksgiving cards made and sent out which was my big project for the week!

I used some Thanksgiving paper I had on hand, embossed the cardstock behind the turkey with a leaf embossing folder that I got as 'candy', the ribbon was also on a roll of 6 that I won at some point and it was perfect, the button and floss were in my stash. The awesome "Toasted Turkey" file is from Precious Piecings by Lisa He has always been a fav of mine and if you have never visited Lisa, you should!!

Today, I need to make borders I owe to my "Border buddies" for Nov. and Dec. I have 5 to make for 2 people, so that will keep me plenty busy:-) That is actually 5 for 3 people when I include myself:-(

I want to post a picture of my kitty, Ashley :-) She is getting better every day and is really the perfect cat :-) She will never wipe out the memory of Boo -- I still tear up a couple times a week -- but she is great. I never knew anything about Russian Blue cats, but she is the softest, silkiest thing I have ever touched except maybe a mink coat. She does not shed!!! And she is almost completely hypoallergenic! If you read about them, she has the personality that is described. Since she was a shelter cat, we have had to work on the trust issues. When we are able to pick her up and hold her, she is extremely gentle -- never any claws or teeth. She only uses the scratching post and never get on counter tops. She has started getting in our bed at night and in the morning, she waits patiently and quietly for us to get up. Her meows are usually 'silent'. She is full grown and weighs just under 8 pounds, but she is such a good eater, that may go up:-) Here is her pic -- I have been trying to get one for a Christmas card.

You can see that she was a little "ticked off" about the hat!!

Hope everyone has a very productive weekend!! I am certainly going to TRY:-) I want to do at least one Hop, but may not!!

And the winner is!.......

Hello Monday, Friends,
I know, I was supposed to announce the winner of the 6 Thank you Cards on Saturday night:-) But this was another one of those times when life interfered. We had 2 grandkids and 2 granddogs for the weekend. I had birthday parties to attend, cheer practice, you name it! But worst of all was the almost 6 year old insisting that I get out ALL of the Christmas decorations and put them up! Well, I was not at all in the mood for this, but I did what made him happy :-) We managed to put up the biggest family room tree -- this was his 3rd year helping with the decorating -- after he and I broke a few of the glass ornaments, I decided to not use them this year :-( So now I have a huge mess of decorations sitting all over the place and I an going to have to finish it up today -- YUK -- no scrapping for me. I will definitely be paring it down and putting some stuff back to the storage place:-) As you know, I am a huge moose lover and I probably have 100 that I can put out! Kitty, Ashley, was confined to the bedroom for the weekend because of the 2 dogs, so she was fascinated when she finally got out of her prison and saw the tree. She is being her usual 'good self' and not climbing it -- just likes to get under or behind it and sit:-)

Okay, now to the winna'!! I only had 5 people comment (actually more than I expected) and I had my DH pick a number between 1 and 5. He picked 5 and that is AUDREY! My sweet bloggy friend from Cute and Some! If you will email me at jejaeb@cfl.rr.com with your addy, I will put your cards in the mail. I wish I could send each of you something:-) Keep watch -- I am going to be doing other surprise giveaways:-) Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and enter!!
